I’ve been looking forward to sharing another wedding that decided on Milky Way photos beneath the California stars. Angelica and Ricky booked my back in 2019 after we met at Paicines Ranch. I immediately loved her and her sweet family and we started chatting about her wedding visions. After rescheduling their wedding from Summer 2020 to Fall 2021, they finally got to put together all the visions we shared that initial meeting.
The day began with the amazing bridal team toasting on the historic Grogan House’s front porch. Angelica exchanged gifts, a necklace, and an heirloom ring, with her mom and we all shed some tears.
After she put on her stunning, shimmering dress, we prepped her for the first touch with Ricky. We walked her out to the castle-esque retired water tower and had her walk up to him and touch his shoulder. It was an incredibly beautiful moment to see his reaction as she whispered into his ear.
After that, we had her father come over for a first look. And when he turned around to see his daughter, his face absolutely lit with joy. After all these beautiful moments, Angelica decided it was time to ditch the sparkly heels and put her sparkly Air Jordans on!
Can I just mention how much I loved all their details? As 49ers lovers, they had a “Great Catch! You’re Next!” football and a 49ers themed garter belt. You can imagine the groomsmen going wild over catching that after Ricky procured the garter.
Along with the fun details, the pastel colors of the decorations popped gorgeously against the rustic details of the barn.
The ceremony procession began after the bridal party made their way down, their oldest son pushed baby Rowen in a wagon down the aisle. Proceeding them were the two flower girls, whom were also their amazing daughters. Mom and Dad walked Angelica down the aisle and Ricky held his heart in pride and awe when he saw her walking towards him. The ceremony had a beautiful mixing of the sands tradition and their four children joined them at the altar.
The two newlyweds beamed as they walked back down the aisle and the festivities began! The dance floor was never empty, and I watched folks party like it was 1999! Occasionally folks would take a break at the charming, mobile photo booth and then get right back to dancing.
My favorite part of the day was whisking them off at the end of the night a few miles out into the rangeland of Paicines Ranch. We went to a oak tree I had scouted weeks prior for this very special astrophotograph. My husband and I lit the way under the dark skies to the top of the hill. They embraced beneath the starry skies and Milky Way – it was beyond magical and such a special way to put the cherry on top of their wedding day!
