One fateful day, Jacob carved his initials with his sweetheart, Keegan’s, on a bridge over the Carson River in Nevada on a fishing trip with a friend. And eight years later, he convinced Keegan they were on a fishing trip, but it was a bit more than that. At that same bridge, he carved their initials again with the date and showed Keegan. As she looked at that soon-to-be very special date, he got down on one knee.
And clearly, she said YES!
Less than a year later at the charming Paicines Ranch on July 24th, the two were getting ready to start a new chapter of life together. The bright and bold pops of golden sunflowers in the bouquets, arch, and decorating the Grogan porch fit perfectly with perfectly sunshiny summer day and boundless smiles from their friends and family.
The two had written each other personal vows to be read privately before the ceremony. As I sat with Keegan and watched her read Jacob’s vows, I put the camera down and was just with her in that moment. The love he had for her and the love she had back was all-consuming. (This is why I need to start packing tissues in my bags!)
After a sweet first look with Keegan and her dad, it was time to start the ceremony. The dashing bridesmaids and groomsmen stood at the archway, with the maid of honor as Keegan’s twin sister and the best man as Jacob’s twin – how sweet is that?! Jacob’s eyes lit up when he saw Keegan come down the lawn, how could that not? Have you seen the photos – go look now!
Keegan’s sister, Alison, officiated a beautiful ceremony and when she asked, “Do you take this woman to be your wife?” he walked over to his groomsmen and huddled which had the guests almost falling out of their chairs. He came back with a big grin and said, “I do!”
The reception took place in the Paicines Ranch event barn with a beautiful spread of decorations and delicious BBQ from Rosbach. First dances followed under the awning of the barn as the sun shined golden low over the California hills.
And what followed were some of the most incredible dance moves I’ve seen – their friends and family knew some moves!
