Paicines Ranch Wedding in Golden California: Cassidy + Byron

Cassidy and Byron met in their friend’s apartment many moons ago as their friend whipped up some bratwurst. And that fateful day brought these two awesome humans together.

Queue to seven years later, and their wedding day with began with getting ready in the grandiose Grogan House living room (where Judy Garland married). Her bridesmaids made sure she was fawned over and regularly fanned her to keep her cool on this toasty summer day.

They each gave a gift for the other to open in private before their first look. And each shed a tear as they unwrapped their gifts. Cassidy gave Byron vintage Disney VHS cassettes (I mean, who doesn’t love The Land Before Time?) and he gave her a beautiful Mickey and Minnie figurine. Aw!

The sweetness was juxtaposed perfectly with roaring laughter as their first look unfolded. Byron spun around to see his beautiful wife and then she revealed what she had behind her back. A Smirnoff Ice. He had just been traditionally iced, an age-old practice likely rooting in college where one is surprised with the beverage and must get on one knee and chug it. Byron laughed and got down to one knee and chugged while Cassidy laughed with her big, beautiful smile.

Their ceremony was beneath the olive trees officiated by their friend, Greg. After saying “I do,” the two newlyweds beamed as they walked back down the aisle.

After their toasts, the two danced beneath the glimmering chandelier of the exquisite barn with giant smiles on their faces. Cake cutting happened soon and I was delighted to see two mini guinea pigs as their cake-topper. Cassidy loved her guinea pigs, and this was a wonderful way to include them on their special day.

What followed was a dance floor full of fun, occasional Fireball shots, and then came the glow sticks. After a conga line formed around the barn as a last song, the two embarked down an alley of their friends and family waving glow sticks at them. What a fun and vibrant wedding exit!
