Now?

In 2023, I made a life-changing move to the place that makes my heart sing—the desert. Specifically, the Mojave Desert on the lower Colorado River. This stretch of the river has captivated my soul since I first stepped on its soils in 2007. I’ve shed more tears, blood, and sweat on this land than anywhere else on this awe-inspiring planet. Fun fact: there’s even a small stretch of a Colorado River tributary named after me! So, Keith and I migrated to Boulder City, Nevada, to start nesting (because everything has to have a bird reference, right?). Even though we’re just half an hour from Las Vegas, our quaint town feels like stepping back in time—in the best possible way.

I’ll miss California and the incredible experiences and wonderful folks I met there, but I still visit and photograph weddings. Plus, we have our sweetie pie cat named Pai, an unexpected parting gift (i.e., stray cat that adopted us) from Paicines Ranch.

In 2024, I’ve been deeply immersed in my consulting career as a wildlife biologist, diving back into the field on multiple desert projects (e.g., renewables like solar) in southern California, Arizona, and my backyard in Nevada. I’m also working on a project with the BLM north of Las Vegas on the Muddy River, surveying for endangered birds.

And if you know me, you know I may be a workaholic and wear many hats. I also do website design (often for regenerative ranches or artists) and have been wrapping up some projects this spring.

For fun, I sometimes pull out my iPad and draw my favorite birds. If you ever visit, you’ll see my walls adorned with sketches (from myself and fellow artists).

I’ve been working on finding a mantra to slooooowwwww down, take off some of my working hats, and enjoy a bit more “unproductive” fun. I’d love to get back into thru-hiking, cloud-gazing, ceramics, playing music, seeing concerts, or just chasing birds for fun!
